Turning a paper workflow into a useful web experience
How a daycare website became more than a brochure by reducing repetitive onboarding work for staff and parents.

Clever Kiddos Daycare approached me for a new website. Their existing onboarding process required parents to complete paper forms and staff to manually enter the same information into a computer.
Look beyond the requested pages
A small-business website needs clear information and a trustworthy presentation, but the best opportunity was hiding in the workflow behind the site.
By understanding what happened after a parent decided to enroll, the project could address duplicated data entry instead of stopping at a marketing page.
Make the better path the easier path
The online flow allowed parents to enter their children’s information directly through the website. That reduced one manual transfer for staff and let families provide information where they already were.
Forms for real organizations should use plain labels, helpful validation, and layouts that work comfortably on a phone. The interface is successful when it feels less demanding than the paper it replaces.
Measure value in saved repetition
Automation does not have to be complicated to matter. Removing a repeated administrative step can save time every time a new family joins.
For freelance work, learning the client’s process is often more valuable than arriving with a predetermined feature list.
